Carabase keeps your data on your own hardware, which changes what deletion means. There is no server-side copy for us to erase, and no support request you have to file to make it go away. In most cases you do not need us at all.
Pick the one you mean.
1. Stop Carabase reading one account
Open Carabase, go to the connected account, and disconnect it. Carabase stops syncing that account immediately, deletes the stored credential for it, and revokes that credential with the provider where the provider supports it.
What was already fetched stays in your local database, because it is now part of your timeline. If you want that gone too, see step 3.
2. Revoke Carabase's access at the provider
You do not have to trust an application's own disconnect button, and you should not have to. Every provider lets you revoke access yourself, from your account, without us:
- Google — myaccount.google.com/permissions, find Carabase, remove access.
- Microsoft — account.live.com/consent/Manage.
- GitHub — Settings → Applications → Authorized OAuth Apps.
- Others — the equivalent "connected apps" or "authorised applications" page in that service's security settings.
Revoking at the provider is the stronger action: it works even if the software is misbehaving, and it takes effect for every credential that application holds.
3. Delete everything Carabase holds on your Mac
This removes the database, the search index, the cached content and the encrypted credentials — everything Carabase has ingested.
This is permanent and there is no undo. If any of it exists only inside Carabase, export it first.
- Quit Carabase.
- Delete
~/Library/Application Support/Carabase. This folder holds the database cluster and the application's own state. - Delete
~/.carabase. This holds the device identity, logs and pairing records. - Drag Carabase.app from Applications to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash.
To reach those folders in Finder, press ⇧⌘G and paste the path.
Nothing is left behind elsewhere on the system. Note that Time Machine or any other backup you run may still hold copies of these folders from before you deleted them; clearing those is done in that backup tool.
4. Close a Carabase account
This applies only if you hold an account for Carabase's hosted services. If you run Carabase self-hosted with your own keys, you do not have an account and there is nothing here to delete.
Email support@carabase.ai from the address on the account and ask us to close it. We will confirm, and then delete the account record, your linked-device registrations and your usage counters. We aim to complete this within 30 days, and usually far sooner.
What survives, and why: records we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes, such as invoices, are retained for the period the law requires. Those contain billing details, never your content — we do not hold your content in the first place.
Closing your account does not touch the data on your Mac. That stays yours, and Carabase keeps working locally. If you want the local data gone as well, do step 3.
